Places to Eat in Newton, North Carolina || B-52s American Bar and Grill
When we were on the hunt for restaurants to feature near Conover, North Carolina we came across B-52s and knew it was our kind of place.
They’re serving up your typical American fare with a patriotic twist. Check out this video…
The name isn’t what you think. The “B” is for Ball, owner Mitch’s last name, and 52 was his high school football number. However, when he realized the obvious military connection, he decided to run with it.
Items on the menu are named after airplanes and military lingo. And, our favorite part, they have a Wall of Heroes where veteran patrons and their military family members are pictured to honor their service.
We love Mitch’s commitment to supporting our troops!
To start out our meal we ordered the Foxtrot Fried Pickles and the Loaded Freedom Fries.
The pickles are classic. Just some yummy dill pickle chips fried in a homemade breading.
And then those yummy Freedom Fries are topped with bacon, cheese sauce, and cheddar cheese. Absolutely delicious!
Joanie B. went for one of her favorites, the Big Daddy BLTA. It’s the classic bacon, lettuce, and tomato but with avocado. But Joanie B. said to hold the “A” so it was just your classic BLT.
Instead of fries she got an order of their B-52 Mac and Cheese. It’s a delicious cheesy mac topped with BBQ and pimento cheese. Unique and yummy!
Jenni B. scoured the burger section and finally decided on the B-17 burger. It’s a 7 oz. Black Angus patty topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese (she got Swiss), and their house made stinger missile sauce.
It’s just a delicious, familiar burger with a little kick from that stinger missile sauce and a side of fresh, crispy fries.
A very special thank you to Mitch and Kris for allowing us to come in and feature B-52s American Bar and Grill!
