Viking Star Deluxe Veranda Room Tour & Room Details

This week we’re breaking down our stateroom on the Viking Star.

There are five room categories on the Viking ocean liners: Explorer Suite, Penthouse Junior Suite, Penthouse Veranda, Deluxe Veranda, and Veranda.

We had the Deluxe Veranda.

Here are the basic details… The room is 270 sqft and has a king size bed (you can choose to have two smaller beds instead of one large bed). Alongside the bed you’ll have two nightstands with great lamps. There are two chairs and a small table beside the bed. Then you’ll have a 42” TV with onboard entertainment and a desk that you could use for working. We mostly used it to store all of the goodies we picked up at the ports.

There is a nice size bathroom with a sink, shower and toilet and their classic Freyja bathroom products.

Every room on Viking Ocean Cruises has a veranda, which is awesome! Ours had two chairs and a table we used frequently for room service dining.

If you choose a Deluxe Veranda over a traditional Veranda room there are a few amenities you’ll receive. The first, and our favorite, is a mini bar complete with soft drinks, water and snacks that is replenished once daily. When you first come into your room it’ll have a variety of drinks like Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and tonic water. However, if you have a preference (ours was Coke!) you just leave a note and they’ll start leaving just your favorites! That was great!

Another feature of the Deluxe Veranda is a set of binoculars located inside of your desk. We didn’t make use of these, because we found the scenery stunning without them. But they are there if you decide you’d like to use them!

Other amenities include at least one guaranteed reservation in Manfredi’s and The Chef’s Table (two of the premium restaurants onboard), priority booking for shore excursions and spa treatments, an in-suite coffee maker, a comfy cashmere blanket, and earlier room availability.

We found the room to be extremely spacious and comfortable! The mini bar being replenished daily was incredible and we didn’t have the silver beverage package (that allows for unlimited drinks), so we were surprised by this amenity.

The veranda was spacious and we spent many nights on it eating our complimentary room service and enjoying the view.

If you’d like to see more of the room, check out our first vlog from onboard the Viking Star. And if you’d like more information about all of the room categories, visit Viking’s website.

Have you ever been onboard a Viking Cruises Ocean ship? What was your favorite part?
