Five-Star Quality Food in Small Town America || Bluebird in Stanford, Kentucky || Post Sponsored by Wilderness Road Hospitality
We took the most incredible trip to Stanford, Kentucky sponsored by Wilderness Road Hospitality. On our first night we were able to enjoy dinner at Bluebird, which is the incredible restaurant created by Wilderness Road and Executive Chef William “Bill” Hawkins.
It’s truly five-star quality food in small town America, and we were honored to experience it. For a more visual take on Bluebird, and to hear an awesome interview with Chef Bill, check this out…
They are creating a truly natural and farm-to-table food experience at Bluebird. It’s a place where the food is not only good, but good for you. That didn’t come easy, though!
Bluebird made the effort to visit the farms they were sourcing food from. They handpicked them to ensure the best quality every time. That goes for their staff, too. Chef Bill picked staff members that would come to work and be excited to serve people, so that locals and tourists alike would want to come back to Bluebird again and again.
It worked.
We sat in the incredible window seat, so we were able to watch people walk down Stanford’s main street. Not to mention the lighting was pretty great.
Our meal started with a great glass of sweet tea (of course) and the Chef’s recommendation: fried green tomatoes.
Jenni, shockingly enough, isn’t a fried green tomato gal, but these were unique. They were rounds of fried green tomato fried to perfection and served atop cream cheese, ham, scallions, and a red pepper coulis.
Absolutely delicious.
For Joanie’s meal she decided to switch things up and order the firecracker burger.
It’s a beautiful grass-fed and grass-finished beef patty with pepper-jack cheese, spicy dynamite sauce, and pickled jalapeños. It’s then served with house made potato chips.
The burger had just the right kick with a full (and delicious) flavor pallet. The bun was soft, but sturdy enough to hold up the burger. The meat was juicy and that pepper-jack was melted into a perfect cheese blanket. Then the spicy dynamite sauce and pickled jalapeños played off of each other to give some heat and a little bit of acidic relief.
Perfection, y’all!
The chips were nice and crispy, which added the perfect texture to the experience.
Jenni cheated a little bit and perused the menu before the visit, so she already knew the perfect dish.
The cajun chicken penne was it, no questions asked. It’s blackened chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, and penne pasta in a yummy cajun Alfredo sauce. 10/10 easy.
For dessert we took a piece of their white chocolate pie back to the Whitley Cottage and enjoyed it later that night! Absolutely divine!
Thank you to Wilderness Road Hospitality for sponsoring this trip and to Bluebird for hosting us.
The food was incredible. The atmosphere was upscale yet homey and warm. The people were so kind to us. We had a 10/10 experience at Bluebird and can’t wait to come back.
