Where to Eat in Jacksonville, Illinois || Lonzerotti's

While we were in Jacksonville, Illinois we had the chance to eat at a town favorite… Lonzerotti’s.

Watch this video:

Lonzerotti’s has been a staple of the community for years.

The original owners were Mike and Betty Goldestich. Mike Goldestitch was an architect who took the rundown train station and had to vision to turn it into the restaurant that stands there today. It originally opened in 1987.

The current owners have kept the heart the same, using old family recipes and serving the same homemade Lonzerotti’s famous dressing. Just one of the things that keeps people coming back.

We loved the train that goes around the top of the bar. It’s a replica of the train that used to come through the depot back before it was Lonzerotti’s. You can learn more about that from the video.

To start, a sampler of some of their best appetizers. This sampler isn’t available on the menu, but each individual appetizer is.

On one plate we had the fried ravioli, mozzarella sticks and fried mushrooms. Then we had a separate serving of the peel-to-eat shrimp (which were yummy). Our favorite was definitely the mozzarella sticks.

Joanie B. had a salad with the famous dressing, and she’s still talking about how delicious it was. Thanks to Miss Gwenn of Blessings on State, we were able to bring a bottle home with us, and it’s almost gone. It’s a delicious, thick and sweet-ish Italian style dressing. Super yummy!

For our entrees we had some yummy food, y’all!

Jenni had the tortellini with marinara sauce. It was pretty classic, which we liked.

Joanie had the chicken parmesan, and it was a nice heaping portion. Everything was cooked to complete perfection and was quite tasty.

Miss Gwenn from Blessings on State had the salmon with a baked potato on the side.

Thank you so much to Lonzerotti’s for hosting us. It was a delicious meal. And a special thanks to Miss Gwenn from Blessings on State and the Jacksonville Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau for making our trip to Jacksonville a success.
