Decorating Cookies with Royal Icing for Beginners - No Regrets Cookies in Jacksonville, Illinois

While we were in Jacksonville, Illinois we had the chance to do something we’ve never really done before. We channeled our inner decorator and used royal icing to decorate sugar cookies. It was a blast!

We got to do this because the Jacksonville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau sponsored our trip to Jacksonville, but also because Peggy from No Regrets Cookies is an angel and let us come have some fun!

Watch this video:

No Regrets is an awesome cookie shop in Jacksonville. Everything from the icing to the cookies is made from scratch in-house and it’s all so delicious.

Peggy says she’s not a professional, but y’all can look at these cookies and tell she’s incredibly talented (and definitely a professional). She still has so much fun with it and is passionate about every icing stroke.

No Regrets is actually known for their GIANT cookies, which are about the size of your head, crispy, and delicious. They have a plethora of flavors from snickerdoodle to red velvet and even turtle. You really can’t go wrong with any of these.

In addition to the delicious giant cookies, they also produce a cookie kit, which is what we came in to try out.

Every season they create these kits with various designs like a witch’s hat for Halloween, a turkey for Thanksgiving, or a snowman for Christmas. They take about six of these (two of each design) and put them in a box for people like us to decorate.

In the box you’ll have the cookies, which are made from scratch and absolutely delicious.

You’ll also have bags of royal icing. It could be three or four depending on what cookies you’re decorating. For the Christmas 2020 kits you’ll have four colors: red, green, white, and black.

Finally, you’ll have sprinkles to decorate. In every season you’ll have an assorted pack of balls and jimmies with the addition of some seasonal sprinkles. The Halloween kit had bats. For Thanksgiving it was tiny turkeys. And for Christmas you had a few trees floating around.

You get all of this for $18 and you’re off to the races.

We were far from professionals, and you’ll see that in the video. But we had a great time, y’all!

There will be another video launching soon where we decorate Christmas cookies, and we had improved in our technique and skill. We’ve only done this twice and we can actually make a decent cookies.

Do you know what that means?

It means you can make an awesome cookie, too!

So if you’re looking for something fun to do with the family, friends, or even by yourself, order yourself one of these awesome cookie kits! Peggy will ship anywhere in the US, and in some cases that shipping is free!

So get to the website and order your cookie kits now before the season is over. You and your family or friends will have such a fun time decorating these cookies. And you may even have a better time eating them.

Thank you to Peggy of No Regrets Cookies for having us and being so patient as we learned. And thank you to the Jacksonville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau for making our trip to Jacksonville one to remember.
