First things first, like always this blog post has a companion video. Check it out before you dive in.

WHERE TO STAY

We didn’t stay in Paducah, but across the river in Metropolis, Illinois at the Riverview Mansion.

You can find out more about the history of the mansion in our blog post. But we’ll give you the basics about the house…

Innkeepers, Will and Lori have four rooms you can rent. One is on the first floor and the other three are upstairs. All rooms have jacuzzi tubs, plush beds, and many interesting stories. All of the rooms upstairs were part of the 1930s hospital, so make sure to ask Will and Lori to tell you more!

We stayed in the grand suite on the first floor. It’s HUGE with a canopy king bed and jacuzzi in the room. Inside the bathroom you’ll find the only handicap accessible walk-in tub in the mansion and a very high-tech toilet that’s warm, can massage, and act as a bidet.

Our TV was equipped with Roku, and you can watch normal TV or sign into your Netflix account.

WHAT TO DO

If you’re looking for something in the arts realm of things, you’re in the right place! The Carson Center has countless shows for you to enjoy, and the children’s theatre is right across the street.

Paducah is basically one big art community, so downtown you’ll find galleries galore. We loved exploring the art shops, all filled with work made by locals. It’s amazing!

If you’re more into fashion and funky clothes, they have some of that to offer too!

WHERE TO EAT

We have two suggestions. First, Max’s Brick Oven. We have an entire post dedicated to the delicious food, so check that out if you want to know more about what we ate while we were there!

They have everything from pepperoni pizza to brick oven cooked salmon to a gumbo pizza with a roux based sauce. The food is familiar yet inventive. Delicious.

The environment is perfect for an intimate dinner, girls’ night out, or birthday party. Industrial but still cozy and inviting.

Our favorite dish was the Shrimp de Provence, an out of this world appetizer that you need to try.

WHERE TO EAT (CONT.)

Our second recommendation is freight house. We also have a blog post up about this amazing restaurant owned by Top Chef alum, Sara Bradley.

The food is delicious, unique, and reimagined.

Our favorite dishes were the buffalo cauliflower and the pimento cheese grits with Gulf shrimp.
