Where to Eat for Dinner in Greenville, South Carolina || Smoke on the Water

It’s the age old question…

Hey, what do you guys want for dinner?

Cue the half hour of useless back and forth.

If you’re in the Greenville, SC area then we can help you out. Head on down to Smoke on the Water at 1 Augusta Street (Suite 202).

The atmosphere is great for a date, family outing or even a little friends’ get together. It’s pretty much perfect for all occasions! The lights are low, but it’s not so dark you can’t see what you’re eating. There’s a little bit of mood music, but you don’t have to scream at each other across the table.

And the food?

Holy. Moly.

It’s incredible!

Mike is the owner, chef and manager and his passion is evident in every dish he serves. It’s also evident in the wall of awards you’ll find in the hallway. He’s earned every single one of them.

Mike gave us quite the smorgasbord of food to try. But he started with two appetizers.

First, is the housemade pimento cheese with peppers, pickles, jalapeños and celery sticks. It was mild, but delicious! And the presentation… it was shaped like a butterfly! Come on! How cool is that?!

Second, deep fried grits and shrimp skewers with a habanero BBQ sauce. The grits were fried like a potato cake and so, so, so delicious! The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the BBQ sauce wasn’t overpoweringly spicy. It was perfect for the shrimp!

For the main course we had a plethora of smoked meats and prime rib! Everything was cooked to perfection and nothing tasted like an ash tray.

You know that smoked taste, right? Hard to swallow and overpowering.

Not here! Everything was juicy and flavorful.

For sides we had hash-brown casserole, mac and cheese, and green beans. I’m sure you can guess, but they were all amazing!

Hold onto your hats, ladies and gentlemen, because there’s more!

For dessert we had a whole-wheat strawberry shortcake and a chocolate chip pecan pie.

What?!

The shortcake was perfectly fluffy and delicious! I wouldn’t have known anything was different about it! That could also be because of the sweet and juicy strawberries covering the cake!

Then the pecan pie… whew! It is not your grandma’s pecan pie.

It’s better.

Chocolatey and gooey and unforgettable!

We had a great time at Smoke on the Water and enjoyed every bite of food from the appetizers to the entrees to dessert. Everything was made with love and we could taste it!
