Where to Eat in Amish Country || Blackworth Live Fire Grill in Lititz, Pennsylvania
On our first night in Lititz, we got a little dolled up and went just up the road to the old Wilbur Chocolate Factory. Since September of last year it has been the home of Blackworth Live Fire Grill.
Check out this video…
Blackworth is all about taking seasonal ingredients and going back to the roots of cooking… the live fire. Almost everything on their menu from steaks to seafood, burgers, and pizza, are cooked over an open flame, giving the food a beautiful flavor and cooking everything to live fire perfection.
The ambiance is everything we could’ve hoped for. Chic but industrial and inviting. The perfect spot to have a casual dinner or class it up a bit for a date or event. It just feels like a place you want to come back to again and again.
It gave us both an excuse to break out a couple cute dresses, and feel like two ladies out on the town. What more could you ask for?
When we finally stopped gawking at the decor, we decided to start the night off with a cocktail. Our waitress recommended the Mora Mora, which is Single Prop white run, Pama liqueur, lime juice, and pineapple juice.
It was smooth and tropical with all of the right, subtle hints of tartness and sweetness.
For our appetizer we went with a delicious take on a caprese salad, which has become a favorite of ours in recent months.
Blackworth’s has beautiful heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil sprinkled with black lava salt.
The only thing we can say is that it was delicious in every sense of the word. It had sweetness, acidity, texture, salt, and everything fantastic that food offers. Highly recommend.
We both went with a meal from Blackworth’s nightly specials.
Joanie B. had the live fire scallops, which were seared beautifully and served atop a delicious risotto. It was elegant, but absolutely delicious.
Jenni B. had this gorgeous lump crab cake with a jicama slaw and tomato gazpacho. Everything paired so beautifully together like a fresh symphony of flavors.
The crab cake was so tender and delicious, filled with chunks of fresh crab meat. Ten out of ten for sure.
When it came time for dessert we were at a crossroads. We could have some delicious crème brûlée or a cast iron baked cookie.
After agonizing over the decision, we opted for the cookie, and we were so glad we did.
It’s warm, ooey gooey, and perfectly crispy on the edges. And what’s better than a chocolate chip cookie, y’all? Then add that perfect scoop of vanilla ice cream and you’re off to the races. We finished the whole thing with zero regrets.
If we lived in Lititz, Blackworth would be a major spot for us. We loved the atmosphere and the people, and the food was quality dining with fresh ingredients, everything treated beautifully.
It’s one of our favorite spots. Thank you so much, Blackworth for having us. We loved every second!
