Our Top Three Favorite Camera Bags for Travel
Today we’re breaking down our top three favorite camera bags for travel! Two of these are traditional camera bags and one is a bag that we love so much that we make it a camera bag.
#3 - GoGroove DSLR Backpack
Coming in at number three is the GoGroove DSLR Backpack. We have this bag in the tropical and galaxy print. We actually took the tropical printed bag to Key West, and it was great!
The biggest pro is definitely the size. It has enough room for all of our gear, but it has a small enough profile that it isn’t obnoxious or tiresome to travel with. It’s also cute, which we appreciate!
The fabric isn’t waterproof, but you can get a cover to go over it so that it’s protected. However, the fabric isn’t slash proof, so if you’re traveling and a pickpocket comes upon you, they can slash into your bag. That’s not exactly ideal!
When you see the bag it doesn’t look like a camera bag, so that’s great for safety! However, there are no precautions (i.e. locking zippers). So this isn’t a bag we would take to places like Rome, Barcelona, or New York City.
Overall, the quality is great, but after a few shoves under an airplane seat, there will probably be some wear and tear. Nonetheless, we love this bag and are glad to have it in our collection!
#2 - Mindshift Gear Backlight 26L
Our number to pick is a behemoth affectionately known as the lima bean. This bag was built for rugged travel and carrying all of your most precious gear. It does that beautifully!
It comes with a rain cover, but the bag itself fair quite well against the rain. We’ve been caught in a torrential downpour with the bean and it held up great. Our gear was perfectly dry.
This bag fits everything we need and more, so it gets a big plus for that. However, it’s massive! It can be pretty cumbersome to travel with, but we’ve done it nonetheless.
As far as security goes, this bag is back entry, which means your most valuable items are safe. It’s not slash proof fabric, but there are enough layers between the outside and your gear that we’ve never been concerned about it.
The Backlight is pricey, but worth every penny. It also comes in a cute gray if you’re not into the lima bean vibes.
#1 - Travelon Heritage Collection Backback
Our number one, top dog, travel bag is no surprise to anyone who has followed us for a while. We’re Travelon fan girls and have been for years. Their products are cute, durable, and just all around amazing!
The ONLY NEGATIVE about this bag is that it’s not actually a camera bag. We’ve solved that issue by using the bag-in-bag technique to protect our gear, and everything works out great.
Travelon is known for their pickpocket-proof bags, so you don’t have to worry about the safety of your gear. The zippers lock. The fabric is slash proof. We’ve taken this bag on three different international trips to cities like Rome, Monaco, Barcelona, and more. We’ve never worried about the safety of our items, and that’s amazing!
10/10. Highly recommend. Travelon is as good as it gets for us.
These are our top three favorite camera bags for travel (even though the last one isn’t a “camera” bag). What bags do you swear by? Tell us in the comments!
